Meet Ms. O’Rourke
We have met almost all the new teachers here at SHA, and to conclude this section of SHAlethea’s faculty interviews, Ms. O’Rourke took some time out of her day to answer a few questions about herself. When I first started interviewing the teachers, I felt nervous and scared. Through this process, I have learned that teachers are not so scary after all. As soon as I walked out of Ms. O’Rourke’s door after spending a few minutes with her, I felt even more comfortable.
Ms. O’Rourke is the business teacher who is also a lawyer. She describes herself as energetic, friendly and optimistic. A terrific teacher from elementary school inspired her to teach. Since her daughter is a recent SHA graduate, she already knows about some of the great experiences here, and she describes Sacred Heart as a great school where the girls help each other and there is camaraderie among the student body.
Everyone was excited for Winter Break, and over that time, Ms. O’Rourke spent some time with her son and puppies and caught up on watching some television. As we look ahead to Spirit Week, we are all excited. Ms. O’Rourke expects Spirit Week to be a ton of fun and filled with SHA spirit. In her high school, they did not have a whole week full of spirit but one pep rally day. Having a whole week devoted to SHA spirit is one of the things that makes our school a unique place.
I asked Ms. O’Rourke about the funniest thing that has happened to her since she came here to teach at the beginning of the school year. She said it must be coming to school with two different shoes on! I also asked Ms. O’Rourke what super power she would choose if she could have one, and she chose flying so that she could get around faster to see friends and family.
Now that you have met many of this year’s newest faculty, you know a bit about each of them and what makes them unique. Whenever you pass a teacher in the hall, smile and say hello to them. You may not realize how much it will make their day and make them feel even more welcomed at SHA.
