Is the Sacred Heart 5k Here To Stay?
Sunday, September 26, 2021, a date that will forever go down in SHA history. This is the date of Sacred Heart’s first fundraiser 5k at Hamden Middle School here in town. This fun run was completely organized and planned by our very own Lily Torello and Delfina Ferro who together did a tremendous job creating a healthy and fun activity for family and friends to do outside of SHA walls. There was a great turnout, with students from other schools, parents, friends, and even our very own faculty and Sisters, all of whom raced across the finish line with an extensive smile plastered across their face! The race went off at 9 am and went from the middle school green to an opening on the linear canal, only to return back to the green and finish under an impressive blown-up archway. To ensure a large turnout, our two executive board members had an early sign up that included receiving a SHA 5k tee shirt when you registered.
We are so proud of our fellow peers on their hard work and dedication to create something special within our community! Faculty and students alike had the same general response when asked about the race: “It was a great time, and we hope to do it again next year!”. So, the real question is, will the Sacred Heart community make this an annual event?
