The senior class on the first day of school

It is that time of year again! The weather is getting colder, the days are getting shorter, and the students are getting busier. I’m sure we will all miss the warm weather with beach days and blue skies, but like all good things, that cannot last forever.
The new school year is different for everyone. The freshmen are excited to start a new chapter of their lives while the seniors already have one foot out the door. Sophomores are hitting their stride and juniors are excited to finally be upperclassmen.
Freshman year is always a big adjustment for everyone; it’s a new building, with new faces and new teachers. As scary as it is, it is also a very exciting time. They have four years ahead of them, filled with so many opportunities. Maureen Cassidy, class of 2019, says she is, “happy to be at Sacred Heart and excited for the new year.” We wish all members of the Class of 2019 lots of luck!
Sophomore year brings a sense of comfort because they are back in a familiar place. They survived freshman year and can return to school knowing faces and feeling comfortable. Expectations are on the rise and classes are getting challenging, but with their new sense of comfort, they will be able to rise to the challenges of the coming year. Nina Truab, class of 2018, said “Classes are going well, but my favorite right now would be British Literature.”
Junior year is when everything is kicked up a few notches. Academics are challenging, SAT’s are around the corner, and they are starting the arduous college search. However, they all know their hard work will pay off in the near future. Everyone is growing closer, and their circle of SHA sisters continues to expand. “This year is pushing me, but I am working hard and it’s going great. I am getting closer to so many people, while staying close with my old friends,” says Taylor Sarojak of the Class of 2017.
Finally, there is Senior year. This is the fourth and final year at SHA. The class of 2016 is so excited to finally be seniors! Although keeping up your grades while applying to colleges makes for a lot of stress, the seniors are ready to deliver. They have been a great class so far, setting an example for the whole school as they soared over their ad campaign goal! Margaret Hughes, class of 2016, says, “I am so excited to finally be a senior. My classes are going well, and I am working hard on my applications. I can’t wait to see what the next year has in store for me.” Seniors, this is your year, so make it great!

The whole of the SHA community is preparing for another year of learning, both academically and socially. With each passing day, the girls grow and achieve a little more, and each class is an integral part of the spirit of Sacred Heart Academy. We wish you great success as you navigate the 2015-2016 school year here at SHA!
